We provide different types of visit programs depending on the specific needs of those we visit.
The most common and well-known type of interaction, these are typically thirty- to sixty-minute visits with therapy dog teams. Therapy dog visits offer numerous benefits, including stress reduction, improved mood, and increased social interaction. They can also help with physical rehabilitation, pain management, and even boost self-esteem. Therapy dogs can also provide comfort, reduce feelings of loneliness, and help people connect with others.
For those who would benefit from a little support in their learn-to-read journey, reading to a therapy dog is a proven and effective way to help improve literacy and communication skills. Reading aloud to a specially trained, calm, and nonjudgmental dog creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere where readers feel comfortable and uninhibited, leading to increased confidence and reduced stress. These positive effects support stronger reading development and communication abilities. Our specially trained teams visit schools, libraries, and other community settings to provide a safe and supportive space for readers, inspiring them to enjoy reading.
Many of our partner sites ask us to visit regularly, so we establish a schedule that is mutually convenient. Ongoing visits allow for a consistent and regular cadence of comfort and emotional support.
Upon request, our certified therapy dog teams participate in non-recurring events (e.g., mental health awareness days, finals week, etc.) to provide support to those in need of comfort.
